Bird Cam

A small project driven by my interests in birds, woodwork, cameras and computers. This webcam shows my bird table it is live and unrecorded. The power to this camera is on a timer and will only stream during daylight GMT hours.

1. Housing
   Wood from fallen down summer house, cut and grooved, pinned, sealed and painted 5 times with cheap outdoor wood emulsion left over from shed.
2. Camera
   12v 500 m/a Philips ccd donated by my good friend Rick. Powered by some miscellaneous power adapter.
   
3. Cable
   15m BNC, 15m cheap CCTV cable, video,power,audio combo cable from Maplin.
4. Video/Audio Sampler
   Belkin USB video sampler from years ago. (Belkin Video Bus II).
5. Streaming Software
   UnReal Media Server, Freeware, lightweight, around 5Meg. Would have used VLC Player but there is a bug with the ancient Belkin adapter driver. I tried around 20 different pieces of software and found UnReal Media Server to be the best by far and free.
6. Server
   My ancient old Dell laptop that sits under the stairs.
