Ubuntu install on Dell Mini 9 fails with blinking cursor after install

Problem

After installing ubuntu on my dell mini 9 after a new SSD, on reboot I just got a blinking cursor.

Resolution

Seems the boot manager didn’t like me having a SD card inserted during the installation. I removed the SD card and reinstalled and then it booted fine.
